It was a hard night where I tossed and turned with a horrible cough and a constricted throat — and I was not even sick! Ann Chen is a student at Fuller Theological Seminary getting a dual degree in Intercultural Studies and Theology & Ministry. On the side, she is conference chair of the World Christian Conference (WCC) and does volunteer staffing with InterVarsity. Ann has a BA in Urban Studies & Planning from UCSD, a Master’s in Education, and six years’ experience teaching middle school. As a woman leader, I really want to bless the ministry but sometimes I’m afraid I am squelching male leadership as a result of my involvement. Recently, I was overseeing a male leader, about 4 years younger than me. I noticed that he was kind of hesitant, and I wondered whether it was because of his age, whether he felt like he couldn’t say certain things in front of me, or something else. (more…)

These are people who foresee our potential and guide us to reach our God-given calling in life. My PhD mentor, Paul G. I have a love-hate relationship with Mike. No, not a person, but the lapel microphone I call my friend, Mike.
I love Mike because it helps me to have a voice. I have a soft voice and do not like to raise it. Mike allows me to speak in my own style without screaming. Specifically, I love Mike because it was made to give speakers the freedom to teach with hands free for other instructional purposes. (more…)
