The last time I wrote for the blog was February this past year, when all things felt eclipsed by my pregnancy.  Fast-forward ten months, and I now have a 7-month-old baby girl; how time flies! When pregnant, I often wondered how my journey in ordination would turn out after I became a mom.  Would motherhood render me an “ordination dropout?”

It’s been a surprising journey — one that has required a constant assessment of my needs in order to know how to thrive as a mom.   (more…)

I was only a sophomore in high school, and preaching was one of the activities we had to do during a twelve-week discipleship class at church. I took the assignment quite seriously.  Sure, the sermon wasn’t even mine since the requirement was to take one of my youth pastor’s sermons and preach from it, but I was the one up on the “pulpit”–a holy place where only the ordained ministers and laity could go up.  (more…)

Yonnie Cheng is a missionary in Taiwan who works with the rich and the poor.  She is currently pioneering bases for Iris Ministries in Taiwan and Thailand, as well as starting an Iris international relief organization.  Born in Taiwan, she immigrated to New Jersey with her family at the age of six.  She has a masters in science, and worked as a physician assistant for two years before going on her first missions trip to Africa.  Yonnie loves Asian food and snowboarding, and she is a painter and documentary artist.
